Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.
The short version. We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry and act for you. We never sell your personal information, and we never pass your contact details to a dealership without your express say-so.
1. Who we are
This site is operated by Elite Car Buying Advisors (ABN 78 428 528 602), trading as Elite Car Sales Advisors (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are an Australian car buying advisory service operating Australia-wide.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. What we collect
We collect personal information you give us directly, which may include:
- Contact form: your name, email address, state or territory, the stage you are at in your search, and the content of your message.
- Booking a call: your name, email address, chosen time and any notes you add. If a third-party booking provider is used, it collects this on our behalf (see section 6).
- During an engagement: the vehicle details, budget, preferences and timeframe needed to source quotes and negotiate for you.
- Email correspondence: anything you choose to send us by email.
We do not ask for your driver licence, identity documents, bank details or credit information in order to source quotes. Be cautious of anyone claiming to be us who does.
3. Website analytics and cookies
Essential storage. We store your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask again on every page. This holds no personal information and is never sent to us.
Analytics. We use privacy-friendly aggregate analytics to count page views and understand which pages are useful. This does not use cookies and does not identify you individually.
Google Analytics. If, and only if, you accept it in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled. Decline, and the script is never loaded and no analytics cookie is set. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.
Our web host records standard server logs, including IP address and browser type, for security and reliability.
4. How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange meetings with you.
- To source quotes and negotiate with dealerships on your behalf, as instructed by you.
- To provide you with comparisons, advice and written summaries.
- To issue invoices and keep records we are required by law to keep.
- To improve this website in aggregate.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to.
5. Disclosure to dealerships
This is the part that matters most, so we will be specific. When we approach dealerships to source quotes for you, we do so on your behalf and we do not hand over your contact details as part of that process. A dealership receives your name and contact information only at the point you have approved a deal and asked us to introduce you, or where you have otherwise expressly asked us to.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone, and we receive no payment, commission or referral fee from any dealership for introducing you.
6. Service providers
We use a small number of third-party services to run this business. Each receives only what it needs:
- Website hosting and aggregate analytics: to serve this site.
- Email: to correspond with you.
- Calendly and Microsoft Teams: to schedule and hold meetings. Calendly receives your name, email and chosen time.
- Form handling: to deliver contact form submissions to our inbox.
- Google Analytics: only where you have consented.
Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information consistently with the APPs, as required by APP 8.
7. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls on our systems and accounts. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected or as required by law, then destroy or de-identify it.
8. Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. Email info@elitecarbuyingadvisors.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable period. We may need to verify your identity first. If we refuse a request we will tell you why in writing.
You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need to hold, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.
9. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please email info@elitecarbuyingadvisors.com.au with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the last updated date shown at the top.
11. Contact us
